MARYMILNE (WHITE) ARNOLD

MARY MILNE ARNOLD (nee WHITE) Passed peacefully at Sunrise Senior Living, Oakville, on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the age of 89. Predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years William Ross Arnold (May 2016). Dear mother of Chris Symington (Jay) of Brampton, Dave Arnold (Joan) of Gilford, and Lynn Cox (Bernie) of Pickle Lake, Ontario. Proud grandmother of Jennifer Arnold, Jessica Symington, Brad Arnold, Bailey Symington (Kyle Barker), and Amy Ford (Wylie) and cherished great-randmother of Tyler, Rory, Teagan, Trace, Reagan and another great- grandson on the way. Also remembered by many extended family and friends. Mary met Ross while working for Ontario Hydro (then HEPC). Mary and her family worked and lived in many parts of the province, most notably Toronto, Whitedog Falls Generating Station while under construction, North Bay and Burlington . Mary had many interests and talents. She was a Girl Guides Commissioner while in North Bay, and was Volunteer of the Year at the Burlington YMCA in 1978. In her late 60s, Mary achieved her Royal Lifesaving Society Award of Distinction and earned her NLS (National Lifeguard Award). She was recognized as being one of few Seniors in Canada to achieve this award. Mary established an Aqua fitness program at Ennisclare condominium complex in Oakville during the mid 1980s and continued as the Instructor for over 20 years. Once Ross retired, they both enjoyed spending time golfing, wintering in Florida, buying and selling antique collectibles. Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), Burlington, 905-632-3333, on August 6, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until a time of Funeral Service to begin at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow at the Funeral Home. Interment at Prospect Cemetery, Toronto, to be held at a later date.
