MCDONALD,Doris Elaine (nee Harris)

McDONALD, Doris Elaine (nee Harris) Born in York Township, Ontario, March 10, 1934. Died March 10 2017, 83 years to the day. Beloved wife of Bob McDonald. Married December 18, 1954 – 62 wonderful years. We had a professional mom with a career as a stay-at-home mom. We are the four children: Cheryl, Rob, Scott and Lowell, and we couldn’t be more thankful to mom for all she did and all she was. For the caring, loving, teaching of all that matters in life, we truly feel blessed. She had all the skills of honesty, loyalty, unconditional loving, unsurpassed work ethic, manners, caring for others as well as enjoying all that God has put on this planet. She loved nature: she took the time to notice it all, pointing out the beauty, hoping others would take notice also. She also enjoyed the sounds of the birds and the fragrance of flowers and pines, smells of farm fresh air where food was being grown as well as the sounds of silence and peace. Some of mom’s wisdom came through using the church to help instill some values and teachings in her children and to have others around who share the same values for life. We must all remember, to do unto others as we would have others do unto us. We live it, you feel it, and everyone enjoys it. Practice what you preach. The wonderful thoughts and memories of our Mom and the legacy of her skills that live on in the grandchildren and great-grand- children makes it possible for us to know without any doubt or hesitation that in her life she has done what so many try to do. Mom was truly rich. She was truly happy wherever she was. She was truly happy with whatever she had. She taught us all to spend less than you have. Now she has passed. She has passed us the recipe for life. We miss you and will love you always. Your family. xxxxxxxx oooooo A visitation will take place Thursday, March 16th from 5-7 p.m. at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Dr., Victoria B.C. with a service on Friday, March 17th at 10 a.m. With burial to follow at Hatley Memorial Gardens. www.firstmemorialsaanich.com
