Monsignor Edward Boehler

Monsignor Boehler died on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at The Cardinal Ambrozic Houses of Providence, Toronto, Ontario in his 85th year and in his 60th year of priesthood.

Fondly remembered by his brother-in-law Joseph Conrath, nephews and nieces Christopher, John, Anne and Claire (Andrew Suhay and their children little Joe and twins Eileen and Audrey). Predeceased by sisters Helen Conrath and Kathleen Boehler and by parents Edward and Eileen Boehler.

Following ordination in 1957, Msgr. Boehler served as assistant for 5 years at St. Theresa’s Shrine Parish, Scarborough and then studied Canon Law in Rome. On his return to Toronto he served Archbishop Pocock as secretary and as Vice-Chancellor and Chancellor of Spiritual Affairs from 1964-72. Subsequently he served as Pastor in three Toronto parishes: St. Helen’s, Blessed Sacrament and St. Anselm’s. He also contributed to Catholic education for seventeen years as a trustee of the Metropolitan Separate School Board including two terms as Chair. He served on the Boards of TVO and Toronto Public Health and from 1989 to 2003 was Judicial Vicar of the Archdiocese. In retirement he continued to help in various parishes. In all his ministry he served with distinction, vigour and genuine pastoral concern.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 13th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in ST. ANSELM CHURCH, 1 MacNaughton Road, Toronto (at Millwood Road, one block east of Bayview Avenue). Funeral Mass Tuesday, June 14th at 11:00 a.m. in ST. ANSELM CHURCH. The Mass will be followed by a light reception in the church hall. Burial will follow at St. Augustine’s Seminary, 2661 Kingston Road, Scarborough.
