NANCYELIZABETH FENNELL

NANCY ELIZABETH FENNELL November 4, 1933 – October 15, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Elizabeth Fennell (née MacDougall) from a hemorrhagic stroke. Born in Hamilton, Ontario and a longtime resident of Oakville, Nancy is survived by her husband, John; sons, Kim, Christian and David; and grandchildren, Michael, Katie, Mackenzie, Sam, Cael, Tyler, Jessie, Rachael and Lauren. Nancy was a graduate of Westdale Collegiate in Hamilton, McMaster University (B.A.), and Brock University (M.Ed.). Family was the most important part of Nancy’s life. She often talked about roots and wings: the importance of building strong roots in order to truly flourish. She stood on principle and integrity as the basis for a meaningful life. She was inspiring, independent, intelligent, athletic, young at heart and possessed a wonderful sense of humour. Beyond having the love, admiration and respect of her family, Nancy touched many lives on so many different levels. She was an outstanding Teacher at Brookdale Public School and Sheridan College; a cherished friend and companion; and she placed tremendous value on community. In this latter capacity, Nancy volunteered at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for 18 years, as well as Sir John Colborne Senior Centre for 10. Nancy consistently placed the needs and interests of others before herself. The Fennell family would like to thank all those who sent expressions of sympathy, as well as the staff at Trillium Mississauga Hospital for its exceptional care. Visitation to celebrate Nancy’s life is at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, Friday, October 21st, 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be at Kopriva Taylor, Saturday, October 22nd, at 11:00 a.m. In l ieu of flowers, we know that Nancy would appreciate donations to the Terry Fox Foundation. Terry represented many outstanding traits that Nancy deeply admired. Visit our guestbook through www.koprivataylor.com
