MATTELIANO, Nicolo On Sunday, September 10, 2017 peacefully at home, surrounded by everyone he loved in his 84th year, Nicolo Pietro Matteliano lost his hard fought battle with lung cancer. He will forever live in the hearts of his wife of 56 years, Giuseppina (nee Santangelo), daughter Giovanna Cabral and her husband Adriano, Eduardo Matteliano and his wife Anita, Vincenzo Matteliano and his wife Corrina, and most precious grandson Nicolo Cabral. Nicolo is predeceased by his parents Eduardo and Giovanna Matteliano and parents-in-law, Vincenzo and Croce Santangelo. Loved brother of Carmela and the late Rocco Messina, Vincenza and the late Vincenzo Farrauto, Salvatore and Theresa Matteliano, Vincenza and the late Calogero Matteliano, Josie and the late Carmelo Unelli, Vincenzo and the late Concetta Matteliano, Salvatore and the late Graziela Santangelo, Calogero and the late Nicolina Ruggieri, Francesco and the late Dina Santangelo, and Graziella and the late Calogero Tinebra. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and family in Canada, the USA, Italy and Belgium. Born in Racalmuto, Sicily, Italy, Nicolo spent 24 happy years working at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, before his retirement in 1989. He spent his retirement enjoying his family, his garden, bocce ball and his Italian soccer teams. Nicolo was the family photographer and family singer. We truly are blessed to have had the Staff of the Juravinski Palliative team on 3C help with dad, the CCAC, Bayshore, St. Elizabeth and Dr. Cox at the Firestone Clinic, Dr. DiPaolo, Dr. Goffin, Dr. Okawara, Dr. Metha and the nurses at the Cancer Assistance Program; a million thank you’s for giving us the gift of more time. Visitation at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E. (near James) on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers Thursday at 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at All Souls Church on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington
