Maria POCOBENE ( nee Cifani)
POCOBENE, Maria (nee Cifani) It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Maria on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, in her 83rd year. She is reunited with her beloved husband Aldo. A dedicated and cherished mother to Tony (Maria) and Rosanna Fowlie (Robert). She was a proud and devoted nonna to Matthew, Patrick, Lukas, Robert Jr., Cristian and Julia. United with her parents Giuseppe and Emma (Grilli) Cifani and her sister Vincenza Cifani. She will be fondly remembered by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, compari, godchildren, relatives and many friends. Maria was born and raised in Goriano Sicoli, Italy. She came to Canada with her husband in 1959 to build a future together. Maria’s biggest pride and joy was her family. Her life’s work was making sure her family was loved and they in turn gave love. She was a compassionate women with a big heart. She had the gift of the gab and could strike up a meaningful conversation with anyone. She was not only a caregiver but a mentor and a confidant to her children. Her love only grew bigger and shone brighter when her six grandchildren came along. Feeding them and telling them stories of her many life lessons was one of her favourite pass times. Maria always thanked the Lord for being blessed with such a beautiful family. We thank the Lord for blessing our lives with such a beautiful spirit. We are grateful to the doctors and nurses at the Hamilton General Hospital for the kindness and care they showed Maria during this past week.
