Q.C.Burton TAIT

TAIT, Q.C., Burton On Tuesday afternoon, September 26, 2017, we were able to take Burt for a long walk along the shore of Lake Scugog in a wheelchair which could accommodate his needs. We returned with him to his room and just after 6 p.m. he very peacefully stopped breathing. He was 77 years old. He was the beloved husband of Judith McManus, dear father of Victoria of Vancouver and Alexandra “Sasha” Liebich and her husband Jonathan of Port Perry. Loving Grandpa of Samuel, Andreas and Emma. Brother of Lynda Orr of Porta Vallarta, Mexico and Suzanne Robertson of Toronto. Brother-in-law of Marion Davidson of Toronto. Burt loved the law. He practiced litigation at McCarthy Tétrault for forty years and finished his career with arbitration work and as a Deputy Small Claims Court Judge. He vigorously sailed his 24 foot Shark, ENIGMA, from the Royal Canadian Yacht Club and spent as much time as possible messing about with stuff and boats at the cherished family cottage, Highland Fling, in Haliburton. A Visitation will be held on Monday, October 2nd from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Trull Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 2704 Yonge Street, Toronto. A Service of Thanksgiving will be held at the Trinity College Chapel, 6 Hoskin Avenue on Tuesday, October 3rd at 3 p.m. Please consider a gift to the Nature Conservancy of Canada in Burt’s memory.
