REUELJOHN HALL

REUEL JOHN HALL 1919 – 2016 It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of John in his 98th year. Beloved husband of the late Mary Hall (nee Caldwell) for sixty-six years. Loving father of Susan (James Campbell) and John (Deborah). Cherished grandfather of Mary Victoria (Ian Cox-Leigh), Andrew and William. Son of the late Jessie Hall and the late Reuel Elgin Mckenzie Hall. Brother of the late Pearl (Russel Beatty), the late Elwin (Muriel) and the late Audrey (Douglas Giles). Survived by his brother Douglas (Jean) of Redding, California. John was born in Wolsley, Saskatchewan on March 25, 1919. He was a Colourist for a printer in Quebec before World War II. At the outset of the war, he answered his country’s call, joining the RCAF and rising to the rank of Flight Lieutenant, teaching bombardiers in both Canada and England. After the war, he attended the University of New Brunswick, obtaining a degree in Forestry Engineering and working for the Department of Lands and Forest of Ontario. After retiring in 1985, he ran his own consulting business in the forestry industry, serving a variety of clients. In his leisure time, he enjoyed curling and was a Mason. In his later years, he became an active watercolour artist and loved taking art classes next to his wife Mary, a talented oil painter. He also took delight in the family’s cottage near Parry Sound and spent a great deal of time there. The family would like to thank all of the staff of K Wing (K1W), Sunnybrook Veterans Centre for its kindness and excellent care. At his request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has already taken place. For those who wish to remember John, donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre or Doctors Without Borders.
