REV. WILLIAM “LIAM” GAVIGAN Peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Houses of Providence, St. Clair Ave., Toronto. Born October 18, 1933 in Collinstown, County Westmeath, Ireland. Ordained a Priest in Ireland June 6, 1967. Came to Canada in 1976 and was welcomed to the Archdiocese of Toronto. He was a devoted Pastor and teacher at Neil McNeil High School for over 25 years. Predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary Gavigan, brother Sheamus (Anne), sisters Delli, Maureen (Sean) and Pauline. Father will be greatly missed by his brother Pat, wife Maureen, nephew Patrick, wife Elessa, grandniece Saoirse and grandnephew Everette in Toronto. Also by his sister Terry (Ivor) and their family in Ireland, his many nieces, nephews and cousins, USA, United Kingdom, Belgium and Spain. Grateful thanks to Marisa Rogucki SSW, Archdiocese of Toronto and to Fr. Roy Farrell, Fr. Steven Szakazki, at St. Lawrence the Martyr Church and their staff. Also to the Staff of the Houses of Providence, the Medical Staff and the wonderful nurses and caregivers who took such great care of Father. Visitation at Church of St. Lawrence the Martyr, 2210 Lawrence Ave. East, Toronto, Ontario, Thursday, April 20, 2017, 2 to 5 and 8 to 9:30 p.m. Funeral Mass on Friday, April 21st, at 11 a.m. St. Lawrence the Martyr, 2210 Lawrence Ave. East. Interment at Queen of Clergy Cemetery, St. Augustine’s Seminary, 2661 Kingston Rd., Scarborough. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
