MERRITT, Roy Hamilton Roy Hamilton Merritt passed away on September 1, 2017 at the age of 88 years. Loving husband of Veronica Merritt for 59 years. Survived by sons Gordon Merle (Lori) and Richard Lorne and by daughter Jane Elizabeth (Gary). Dear grandfather of Nicole, David, Kailey, Kyle, Brianne, and Braydon. Great-grandfather of Ryla and Thomas. Remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews. Will be sadly missed by his sister Dorothy (Alan) Bird. Predeceased by his sister Lauraine and brothers Harry and John. Former cadet/officer of RCSCC Lion; retired Staff Sergeant Hamilton Police Service; member of Hamilton Police Retirees and Sea Cadet Old Buoys Association; recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal; and also served with various other volunteer organizations. A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at M.A. Clark & Sons Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
