BITTCHER, Rudolf Franz Passed away peacefully on August 29, 2017 in his 91st year. Born July 19, 1927 in Landsberg, East Prussia, only son of Otto Bittcher and Johanna (nee Klein). Loving husband for 62 years to Luise. Father of Doris (Mike) Muldowney, Bernie (Alicja) and John (Brenda). Opa to Bradley (Alyssa) Boutcher, Natalie (Connor), Stefanie, Brittany and Michael. Rudolf fondly remembered his childhood in Landsberg and summers spent on the Baltic Sea. Rudolf fought in World War II on the eastern front and was wounded March 6, 1945. Rudolf sailed to Canada in 1954 on the Grotte Bear and found employment at Consolidated Bathurst in Hamilton for 30 years. Rudi and Luise lived and enjoyed Ancaster living for over 40 years. They lived happily for 16 years at St. Elizabeth Retirement Village enjoying the pools and clubhouse. Rudi and Luise took many summer trips and enjoyed their cottage at Turkey Point. In June 2014, Rudolf suffered a stroke which gave him many challenges and he handled them with grace and composure. Visitation at the DODSWORTH & BROWN FUNERAL HOME, ANCASTER CHAPEL, 378 Wilson Street East, Ancaster, 905-648-3852 on Sunday September 3, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. Private cremation will take place. Our family is eternally grateful for the entire Extendicare staff for their gentle care and compassion throughout Rudolf’s stay.
