SOUSA, Jose Born on July 25, 1945 on São Miguel Island in the Azores, Portugal to parents Antonio Soares and Maria Reis, Jose Soares Sousa of Wellandport (formerly of Smithville) passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby. Beloved husband of Maria Do Rosario Sousa (nee Couto) for 46 years. Loving father of Norm Sousa (Lori), Diane Sousa (Kevin Patten), the late Sandy Sousa (2001), Kathy Leocadio (John), and Jennifer Sousa (John Konkle), and cherished by his 12 grandchildren. Dear brother of Maria Gueirro, Tony Sousa, Tina Medeiros, and Mary Jo Mark. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Friday, August 12 from 7-9 p.m. with Prayers at 7 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 166 West Street (Regional Rd 20), Smithville on Saturday, August 13 at 10 a.m. Interment at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church Cemetery.
