KIRIAKOU, Thomas Passed away peacefully in his 81st year surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband to his soul mate Lena. Cherished and sorely missed by his children Peggy (Chris) and Jerry (Diane). Treasured by his grandchildren George (Jolene), Jamie (Jessica), Thomas (Adele), Daniel (Christina) and Anthony (Sang). Adored by his brother Tony (Menka) and his sister Diti (the late Paul). Forever remembered by his nephews Peter (Anita) and George (Carmela). Never forgotten by his extended family and the countless friends from all walks of life. Thomas was predeceased by his mother Peggy, his father Jerry and his late sister Mary (Bill). Thomas will be remembered for many great achievements in his life, but none greater than the 59-year marriage to his beautiful wife Lena. Their vacations together to Florida and their cottage in Balm Beach were filled with laughter and joy. He considered his grandchildren among his greatest gifts and will forever be in the hearts of his new great-grandchildren Natalina, Nathan and Cristian as they grow up to hear many amazing stories about dedo. Thomas emigrated from Vevi Florina, Greece in 1953 at the age of 17 with his mother and father and his brother Tony. Together with his parents in 1958, they founded the Wexford Restaurant growing it into a Scarborough landmark. An entrepreneur ahead of his time, Thomas helped shape the Scarborough landscape for 60 years with his devotion and hard work. He leaves behind a lasting legacy for his grateful family who will continue to push forward in his memory. Visitation will be held at HIGHLAND FUNERAL HOME – SCARBOROUGH CHAPEL, 3280 Sheppard Ave. E. (Warden Ave. and Sheppard Ave., 416-773-0933), on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 3-5 and 6-9 p.m. and Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 3-5 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at ST. JOHN’S GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, 1385 Warden Ave., Scarborough (Warden Ave. and Ellesmere Ave.), on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at PINE HILLS CEMETERY, 625 Birchmount Rd. (Birchmount Rd. and St. Clair Ave.). Memorial donations may be made in Thomas’ memory to The Scarborough Hospital Foundation.
