Tindara”Tina” SATURNO

SATURNO, Tindara “Tina” (nee CUSMA) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Tina on Monday, July 31, 2017, surrounded by her children. Born October 26, 1939, in Brolo, Sicily to Rosina and Carmelo Cusma, Tina immigrated to Canada in 1957 with a heart full of dreams and aspirations. She was joined by the love of her life Salvatore (predeceased in 2014) in 1959 and together they created a magnificent life sharing a song, a story or a dance, life was always full of treasured memories being created. Always a bounce in her step, Tina was all about time spent with family, creating wonderful meals, with a flair for creating delectable sweets and baked goods. Tina is survived by her loving children Peter (Rosie) and Rosa Cannella (Tony) and was always bursting with pride whenever she spoke of her cherished grandchildren Samuel Saturno, Amanda Cannella and Jessica Barnes (Chris). Dear sister of Nunziatina Cicero (Salvatore) of Rome and Vince Cusma (Mitch) of Whitby and beloved sister-in-law of Concettina Gaetano (Argentina), Tindara Giorgio (Sicily), Maria and Francesco Albis (Whitby), Catena and Giuseppe Ziino (Milano), Sarina Saturno (Whitby), Antonino and Antonietta Saturno (Brampton) and Julia and Domenico Scaffidi (Whitby), predeceased by Rosario Gaetano, Salvatore Giorgio, Sarina and Pietro Albis and Umberto Saturno. She is fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and godchildren as well as countless friends. Visitation will be held at the DeStefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa (south side of Taunton Road, east of Thornton Road by the Oshawa Airport), 905-440-3595 on Thursday, August 3rd from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 903 Giffard Street, Whitby on Friday, August 4th at 11:00 a.m. followed by the entombment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Whitby. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Naassan and the Cancer Centre Staff who provided Tina with exceptional Care at the Lakeridge Health Cancer Centre for many years, as well as the “True Heroes and Angels” of the Lakeridge Heath Oshawa Supportive Care Unit and all the nurses and Doctors who contributed to her care.
