JARVIS, Virginia Augusta Corson West Peacefully in her 103rd year, after a short illness on August 3, 2017, predeceased by her husbands Robert Bruce West and John Patrick Jarvis, her parents Rolph and Augusta Corson, her brother Tony, her sisters Dorothy and Martha, nephews Gordon Andrews (Margaret), “AJ” Andrews (Shahla) and Dr. Ian Cunningham (Gillian), Pamela Jarvis and Jennifer Carroll (Paul). Beloved by her daughters Alice Bastedo (Tom), Martha Gayford (Tom), her sister Catharine Holwell, sister-in-law Mary Musgrave, John Jarvis (Bev) and Brooke Jarvis (Peter). Virginia had a grand sense of humour mixed with a life affirming appetite to care for other people. Ginny, a matriarch of such delight and generosity, spread her love throughout to those who were and those who became her family. Loved by her grandchildren Ruth Bastedo McHale (Michael), David Bastedo (Megan), Peter Bastedo (Debra), Margie Gayford, Mary Fraleigh (Dan), Jannie Gayford (Chris), Virginia Gayford King (Graham) and Elizabeth Gayford (Matt), cherished by her great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Hallie Bastedo, Robert and Sarah McHale, Thom, Jamie and Will Fraleigh, Charlie and Henry King, Hazel and Simon Posno. Also mourned by Gordon and Katri West, Tom (Michelle), Anneli, Ross, Daniel and Ross West, Will and Mac Jarvis, John and Alyson Coy, Drew Carroll (Morgan) and Kim Carroll (Andy), Logan, Kensey and Taylor Mellett, Corson (Leslie), Elena (Filip) and Ariana Cunningham, Michael Andrews (Alexandra), Daniela Andrews, Jennifer Andrews (Chris), Alex and Gillian Butler and Paul Andrews (Andrea), Velta Zilvers as well as longtime friends Pat Reburn and Roger Warren. Our heartfelt thanks to Myrna Loman and Minda Perez, who provided Virginia with exceptional care for many years, as well as the compassionate palliative care team at Bridgepoint Healthcare. Donations can be made, in lieu of flowers, to the SickKids Foundation or the Bridgepoint Foundation. A funeral service will be held at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, 477 Manning Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, on Saturday, September 9th, at noon, followed by a reception at the church.
