W.MELVILLE BOYCE

BOYCE, W. MELVILLE Suddenly but peacefully, with family by his side on Tuesday July 11, 2017 just days before his 93rd birthday, Mel passed away after a wonderful weekend at his cherished farm. Beloved father of Christie (Alan Brenchley), Doug (Debra Koopmans) and Murray, dear grandfather of Caitlin, Diana, Peter and Brian. Mel was predeceased by his wife Margaret (having been her loving spouse for 56 years). Brother to Joan Greig of Victoria, BC (Bob, deceased), the late Edward (Kaye deceased), the late Edna Jones (Mel deceased), and to sister-in-law Lois McEachern (Don deceased) of Ottawa and caring uncle to their families. Dear special friend of Betty Morrison of Thornhill. After serving in the Royal Canadian Navy, Mel graduated from the University of Toronto and had a distinguished career in architecture, becoming a Senior Partner at Page & Steele Architects and was invested as a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Mel served his community actively through the Rotary Club of Toronto West and the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries. Mel’s wide circle of friends experienced his caring interest and attention and those nurtured bonds were greatly valued by him. Ever positive and exuding a contagious sense of humour, Mel chose to live life to the fullest. A keen traveller, avid curler, always a project on the go, his zest for life, his whistle and so much more will be sadly missed. Please join us to celebrate Mel’s life at a Memorial Service to be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18th at Forest Grove United Church, 43 Forest Grove Drive, Toronto. In lieu of flowers, we know Mel would be honoured to have donations made to the CNIB, 1-800-563-2642, who supported him so well to adapt to living with vision loss resulting from macular degeneration.
