MOORES, William Albert (Major (R), The Salvation Army) On Tuesday, June 13, 2017 Major Bill was Promoted To Glory from Norview Lodge, Simcoe, in his 90th year. Predeceased by his first wife Verna (nee Ottaway), his children Daniel, Kenneth (Janice) and Brenda (Tom Whiteway). Grandfather of six grandchildren and two great-grand- children. Following Verna’s passing, Bill married Mona (nee Thomson) Smith in 1995. Her family – Brenda and Martyn Cooper, Ron and Sharon, the late Kenneth (Susan) and Debbie and Lee Graves and all their children and grandchildren – became an integral part of Bill’s life and he was affectionately known as grandpapa by many of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Donald (Violet), Victor (Eva), Cecil (Millie) and the late Fred, Harold (Edna), Phyllis, Louis (Dorothy), Hazel McGibbon and Gerry (Emily). Major Bill ministered in various venues in the Salvation Army across Canada including church pastor and corrections ministries. Friends are invited to call at COOPER FUNERAL HOME, 19 Talbot Street West, Jarvis, on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Funeral Service for Major Bill will be held at The Salvation Army Simcoe Community Church, 184 Colborne St. N., on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Donations to The Salvation Army, Simcoe or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
