William (Bill) Paul MARKOW
MARKOW, William (Bill) Paul April 26, 1949 – July 26, 2017 At home, after a bravely fought struggle with ALS, Bill passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, July 26, 2017. Bill, as so many will remember, was a dedicated and knowledgeable community pharmacist in the local area for over 40 years. He was always happy to answer questions and offer help to anyone in need. His robust knowledge of music, history and current events was admired by many who knew him. He loved to cook, entertain, travel and keep in touch with friends. Bill’s sense of humour was sharp and unique, just as he was. Bill is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Fran Doyle, and his son, Hennessy. He leaves behind his beloved Aunt Gladys (Bohaychuk), and sister Marilyn (Andrea, Sean), as well as many cousins. He was predeceased by his parents William and Sally, and brother Richard. At Bill’s request, there will be no service. In its place, Bill would love to know that, in his memory, you take time to enjoy your favourite music, preferably in the company of friends and food. Special thanks to Bill’s medical team (ALS clinic MUMC, Dr. Turnbull, Jane, Daniella, Maureen), Dr. Naidoo and Bill’s mighty army of nurses, carers and volunteers. Very special gratitude for unwavering support and love to Patricia Doyle, Anthony King, Pauline Gill and Brian Bohaychuk. If desired, in lieu of flowers and other acknowledgements, donations to ALS Research Foundation in care of Dr. John Turnbull, 1200 Main St. West HSC 4U7 Hamilton, Ontario L8N 3Z5 would be greatly appreciated.
