WILLIAM RITCHIE WILLIAMSON September 10, 1919 – January 18, 2017 William Ritchie Williamson (Bill), 97, passed peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at North York General Hospital. Known for his dry Scottish wit and amiable nature, he worked for many years as a musical director for CBC on shows such as Wayne and Shuster, Juliette, Tommy Hunter and the Ice Capades. A Veteran of WWII and survivor of D-Day, he was a devoted husband and exceptional father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife Fern of 70 years, his brother Jim, sons Bob (Diane) and Richard (Chris), daughter Diane (Steve) and grandchildren Jamie, Jessie and Cailey. He is fondly remembered by his family as a loving father, musician, intrepid world traveller, art collector, animal lover, gardener and soup maker. A cremation and private interment is planned with a celebration of his life to be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Bill can be made to a charity of choice.
