WILLIAM ROBERT KING Passed away peacefully on April 10, 2017 at the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre at the age of 94 and predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Joyce “Joy” King, Bill is fondly remembered by his children, Adrian (Eileen), Philip (Jennifer) and Andrew (Leanne). Forever cherished by his grandchildren Maeve, Dana and Olivia. Bill was passionate about his early “flying days” first as Pilot Officer with the Royal Air Force and then for many years as a test pilot for de Havilland Aircraft Company in England with many exciting challenges and experiences in the advancement of aeronautics. Bill and Joy were married in England in 1958 and immigrated to Canada in 1960 where Bill assumed a management role with de Havilland Canada. In 1970 Bill joined York University. Bill enjoyed his career as Senior Administrator and Teacher at the university level and was subsequently much loved as the Executive Officer of Glendon College. He finished his working career with a senior position for what is today known as the Canadian Association for Community Living. Bill had a long affinity with the University of Toronto where he earned a Bachelor of Arts, Masters of Arts and Masters of Divinity degrees Within their community in Scarborough, Bill made many wonderful contributions. He was actively involved in Christ Church Scarborough Village and the former St. George’s Anglican Church. He was a lifelong “teacher” and loved teaching others, whether it was giving the sermon at church on Sundays, teaching at Glendon College and coaching young ski racers for many years. Rest in peace Bill, you will be fondly remembered. A celebration of life will be held at Bluffer’s Park Restaurant, 7 Brimley Rd. South, Scarborough, on Saturday, April 22, 2017 between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m.
