Patricia Anne (Abel) Gaskell

After a long and wonderful life, our family is incredibly sad to announce the passing of Patricia Anne Gaskell at the age of 90. Pat was born in Hamilton, Ontario on April 3, 1931. Predeceased by Parents Harry and Irene Abel. Attended Memorial Elementary School, Delta Collegiate/High School and Normal School (Teachers’ College) and then taught Grade 5 at Lloyd George School.

Pat leaves behind her beloved husband, William Albert Gaskell, children and grandchildren Victoria and Stephen, Valerie and grandsons Matthew and Kevin, Michael and Margaret and grandsons Connor and Eric, Vanessa and Dave, Mark and granddaughters Natasha and Sarah. Never forgetting the family dogs and grand-dogs, past and present (Hayley, Odin, Penny). Pat will be dearly missed by her Sister Joyce (Doug Laxton), predeceased by her brother Ernie Abel (Judy) and will be fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and cousins as well as dear friend to mom and our family Canon Beverley Shanley. Pat will be deeply missed by childhood friends (Club) Bunny, Betty and Barb. But is ready to prepare sandwiches for Mimi, Joyce and Shirl.

Our Mother was a Daughter, Sister, Friend, Class President, School Teacher, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Store Manager, Lay Reader, Organizer of every Family Holiday and Birthday, an incredible cook and baker. Mom never arrived anywhere without a gift in hand. All mom ever wanted was to be with her family. Thank you to all of the wonderful Nurses, PSWs, Doctors, Recreational Therapists and all of the support staff at St Peter’s Residence at Chedoke (Aspen Terrace) for the more than three years of care and fun you provided our Mother.

Thank you to our dear Sister, Daughter Vicki who spent every day with Mom providing extra care, hugs and kisses, treats and love, particularly when the rest of the family were only allowed to phone and visit at the window. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Church of the Resurrection (Hamilton, ONT.) or the Alzheimer Society of Hamilton Halton. Cremation has taken place. A family gathering to celebrate our Beautiful Mother is planned for end of summer. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dermodys.com
