AUDREY IVY ANDERSON

AUDREY IVY ANDERSON

ANDERSON, AUDREY IVY Audrey passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018. Audrey was a resident of Hazelton Retirement Residence and was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gordon; as well as her very loving parents, Norman and Annie Tarry.

She is survived by her brother-in-law and his wife, Charles (Andy) and Grace; numerous nieces and nephews and a special longtime friend, Eileen Maxwell. She was also predeceased by her very special brothers and their wives, Len and Barb, Arnold and Margaret and Doug and Olga. Audrey was born in Broadview, Saskatchewan and although she loved everything about Toronto, was always very proud of her Saskatchewan roots. She completed Business College in Saskatoon and was hired as a court reporter in the Wynyard Court House upon graduation. While working in the court house she met and married Gordon, and when he was transferred to Toronto with CPR in 1953, Toronto became their new home.

Upon arrival in Toronto, Audrey worked for a temp agency and because of her legal background and excellent skills, was placed in many high profile legal offices. Audrey enjoyed both the variety and flexibility of the temporary environment and eventually was asked to join the placement firm. When a temporary court reporter position in the Ontario Legislature came available, Audrey accepted the assignment herself and after a short time, her position was made permanent. Audrey thoroughly enjoyed her career as well as the people she worked with and retired as Supervisor of the Hansard Department in the Ontario Legislature after 20 years of service. Audrey was passionate about travel, whether with her husband Gordon or her friend Eileen. She enjoyed many great memories of their trips to Europe, Greece, Spain, Mexico, England; the list goes on and on. Audrey was a beautiful woman who loved life, loved to sing and laugh, loved her family and her friends and has left all of us with some wonderful memories.

Thank you to the staff and residents at Hazelton Retirement Residence and the team from Optimum Care for their friendship and kindness. Special, heartfelt thanks to Marina Dalioan for all the love and gentle care you so generously provided Audrey. A memorial service will be held in the Humphrey Funeral Home – A.W. Miles Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Saturday, September 15th at 2:30 p.m. followed by a reception in the Leaside Room.

Cremation has taken place. If desired, donations made to a favourite charity of one’s choice would be appreciated. Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com
