DANIEL (DONAL) FLYNN

DANIEL (DONAL) FLYNN

FLYNN, DANIEL (DONAL) October 1925 to October 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Daniel Flynn on October 8, 2018. Daniel was predeceased by his loving wife Lilian and siblings Jerry, James, Paddy, Sean, Con, Pidge, Joan, William and Tim. He is survived by his daughter Donna and son-in-law Bill. Daniel was born in Tralee Ireland, the youngest of 10 children.

He immigrated to Birmingham, England in 1942 to work with his brother Sean. After the war, he moved to London, where he met and married Lilian in 1951. In 1957, they immigrated to Canada and settled in Oakville. Daniel started to work at the Oakville Club in 1957, six months after he and Lilian had emigrated from England. He began working in the Maintenance Department and soon moved to the position of Head Bartender. He became the Food and Wine Manager and then the Assistant Manager and in 1972 became the overall Club Manager. He retired from the Club in 1990.

Daniel was a generous, warm hearted individual who loved to read, sing and travel. He always had a good story to tell and a good joke to relay. A consummate showman, he was a regular performer in the annual Cabaret show at the Oakville Club and was a member of several choirs. He loved animals, particularly dogs and in his later years he was a regular fixture walking his grandpup Snoopy in downtown Oakville. Daniel always embraced new technology and was the unofficial digital photographer for family and friends. He was a proud family man and always loved spending time with his extended family in the United States, Canada, Ireland and England.

We want to thank the staff at Trafalgar Lodge and at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for the care provided to Daniel over the last three years.

Visitation will be held at the Kopriva-Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block East of Kerr Street) on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 3-7:30 p.m. The funeral will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 47 Reynolds Street, Oakville on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Flowers are welcome.
