DIEBOLT, Sister Mary Grace

DIEBOLT, Sister Mary Grace, School Sister of Notre Dame Died at Notre Dame Convent, Waterdown, Ontario on January 10, 2019. She celebrated her 85th birthday on January 9. She was in her 66th year as a School Sister of Notre Dame.

Predeceased by her parents Emil and Rose (Freiburger) Diebolt and her brothers, Andrew, Rueben, James and Victor and her sisters, Helen McKay, Edna Weber, and Angela Perras. Lovingly remembered by the School Sisters of Notre Dame and her relatives.

After completing teacher training at Hamilton Teachers’ College, Sister Mary Grace taught at several schools: Immaculate Conception, Chepstow, St. Helen and Basilica, Hamilton and St. Mary’s, Kitchener. In 1963 she was appointed principal of Our Lady of Grace School, Aurora, in 1965 St. John School, Kitchener and in 1969 St. Kevin School, Welland. From 1973-1975 she was principal at Sacred Heart School, Ladner, British Columbia. On her return to Ontario, Sister Mary Grace lived at Notre Dame Convent, Waterdown assisting with the Notre Dame Academy boarders. In 1978 she moved to Notre Dame Children’s Village, St. Agatha, where she was a child care worker. Beginning in 1988 Sister Mary Grace visited the sick and elderly in Kitchener, Kenora and Cambridge. In 2003 she returned to Notre Dame Convent, Waterdown where she accompanied the senior sisters.

Visitors will be received at Notre Dame Convent, Waterdown on Monday, January 14 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Prayer service will be held on Monday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Notre Dame Convent on Tuesday, January 15 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Notre Dame Convent Cemetery.
