DOMENICHETTI, Gloria B.A., B. Ed. (nee Beale)

DOMENICHETTI, Gloria B.A., B. Ed. (nee Beale) July 17, 1943 – October 20, 2018 On Saturday, October 20, 2018, Gloria passed away peacefully as a beautiful sunrise rose over Lake Ontario. Gloria endured multiple illnesses during the last 2 years, which she bore with great dignity and grace, always with a smile and never complaining.

Predeceased by her parents James and Dorothy Beale, brother Robert Beale, brother-in-law Michael Watts, and many aunts and uncles. Survived by her loving husband of 52 years Ed, daughter Michele, son Michael (Amanda) and her two precious granddaughters Layla and Madelyn, of whom she was a very proud Nonni. Also survived by sister-in-law Madelyn Domenichetti Watts, nephews Andrew and Nicholas (Kristin); sister-in-law Lynda Marchese (Paul Sr.), nephews Paul Jr. and Cristopher (Rene) and great niece Ellie.

Gloria’s journey from Port Colborne took many winding and sometimes difficult paths. Her true vocation was teaching children and especially those with specific learning disabilities. Every student received her full attention and care. Gloria returned to university and completed her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education, with emphasis on Special Education. Balancing family commitments, career demands and attending to course work was always met with Gloria’s attention to detail and commitment to excellence.

Gloria is known in our family as a great cook, and we always had very special family meals at Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. Each of us were treated to our favorites; her apple pie being a unanimous favorite. After retiring in 2000, Gloria spent many happy days strolling down local fairways, golfing with Ed. Gloria was a key player in the family renovation business, always making sure that lunches were available and the worksite was in order. As her health declined and mobility was an issue, she looked forward to weekly outings to the local casinos. Under Gloria’s careful tutelage, Ed learned to cook and clean house properly.

Our family expresses heartfelt thanks to Dr. Okawara; if doctors were gemstones he would be a diamond. Dr. Samuel, your kindness and understanding helped ease Gloria’s burden in the last few months. To all the doctors, nurses and support staff in the clinics, offices and hospital, you are true professionals, treating Gloria with kindness and respect.

Please honour Gloria’s legacy and memory by greeting everyone with a smile and treating all with dignity and respect.
