Dr. James “Jim” Arthur Leonard Gordon

August 4 1932 – October 19 2018 Jim died peacefully at home.

Jim was an incredible father and grandfather and an accomplished doctor who touched the lives of many during his 35-year career at Southlake Regional Hospital. Jim graduated Gold Medalist from U of T Medical School and arrived in Aurora in 1965 to join Dr. Don Hutchins in Internal Medicine. In 1976, Jim opened the first Nuclear Medicine department at what was then York County Hospital. He was well loved by his patients and colleagues for his sense of humour and dedicated service to the Hospital. Jim enjoyed squash, tennis and skiing, and the benefits of cutting your own grass. He also raised chickens and sold eggs to hospital staff who were keen to enjoy farm fresh eggs.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years Mary, daughter Wendy (Robert) and four sons, James (Anja), Mark, Jeff (Angi) and Andrew (Andrea) and seven grandchildren (Samantha, Kevin, Nyle, Dawson, Kyle, Matthew and Oliver). He was predeceased by his siblings Ruth (Parrott), Shirley (Harrison) and David, and will be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was a cherished brother-in-law to the Miller family.

Friends will be received by the family on Thursday, Oct 25th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora. A service celebrating Jim’s life will be held on Friday, Oct 26th at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home followed by a reception at Kings Riding Golf Course, 14700 Bathurst Street, Aurora.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Southlake Regional Hospital or Covenant House Toronto would be appreciated.
