HALL, Donald Rowse

HALL, Donald Rowse July 8, 1928 – April 10, 2019 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Donald R. Hall.

Don died at home with his family by his side. He leaves his wife Nellie Belluz, brother Gordon Hall (Nancy), stepchildren Frank (Jill), Paul (Susan) and Diana, grand-children Zoe (Nghi), Alex (Kevin), Abrahm (Julie), Morgan (Wesley), Julian (Kendra) and Solana, and great-grand- children Audrey and Max, nephews Vaughn (Tiffany), Matthew (Fiona), niece Sarah (Yarek) and many other nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and cousins. Don was predeceased by his first wife Evelyn, his parents Bruce and Radia Hall, and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Don met Evelyn Schofield when they were teachers in Germany and enjoyed many years together. Don and Nellie met on a trip to China, and quickly fell deeply in love. He quickly became a well-loved member of the Belluz clan. Don enjoyed spending time with all his family and was quick to share a smile, a story, and a compliment. He delighted in watching each generation grow and mature and visiting with his precious great-grandchildren and great-nieces Amy and Maggie.

Don was a 33° member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He served in various leadership roles in Queen’s Lodge in Kingston. He was a graduate of Queens and lifelong supporter of Queens and Acadia Universities. In later years, he and Nellie travelled extensively and enjoyed researching and exploring the many countries they visited. He could, and did, strike up a conversation with anyone who crossed his path, whether he spoke their language or not. He was keen to learn about people and listen to their stories. As a result, he was blessed with many rich friendships.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Perry Meyer, Dr. Ross Allega, Joanne Norwood, Veronica Dummer and Mark Janusiak who formed the core of a large team of kind and dedicated people that enabled Don to have an active and fulfilling life.
