Irma Elaine Herrera, 98 years of age, departed this life peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at home, surrounded by loving family members.
Born in Trinidad, West Indies, Irma married the late Reynold Nathaniel Herrera and together raised six children. She was also predeceased by four of her children, Herman Herrera, Helen Dedier, Rolph and Hammond Herrera; and grandson Iren Brooks. She is survived by the remaining two children, Erica Herrera and Halcyon Manchew; twenty-three grand-children; more than thirty great grand-children; and five great, great grand-children.
In her mid-sixties she immigrated first to New York, USA where her two older brothers (now deceased) lived and ten years later, came to Toronto, Canada where four of her children resided. She will be lovingly remembered by many other extended family members and friends as well.
Family and friends will be received at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 4115 Lawrence Ave. E. on Tuesday, April 2nd from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 in the Chapel at Giffen-Mack. Following the service there will be a reception for which all are welcome. Burial will take place at Pine Ridge Cemetery 541 Taunton Road in Ajax following the reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Christian Children Fund and/or World Vision in Irma Herrera’s name would be appreciated.
