GABBER, John (Hans) Passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Hamilton General Hospital at the age of 89.
Beloved husband of the late Lydia (2010). Loving Father to Helmut (Christine), Angelika Gabber Pearson (Jay) and Sylvia Bonaventura (Roberto). Cherished Opa to Jessica, Vanessa and Roberto and great-Opa to Anthony, Zaiden, Mia and Ali. He is survived by his sister, Niki Brock (Joachim), nephew, Detlef (Jennifer) and niece, Claudia. John (Hans) was born in Romania. After WWII they were refugees to Germany where he married the love of his life, Lydia.
He Immigrated to Canada in 1955 as a carpenter, but worked himself up to a contractor building custom homes.
He was a big hockey and soccer fan and will be greatly missed by his family and dog, Lucky.
John (Hans)’s family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Visitation will continue on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel.
Interment at Woodland Cemetery followed by a reception at the funeral home. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
