Julie Catherine MacDonald

Julie MacDonald, Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully January 4th, 2019 at North York Regional Hospital after a brief critical illness. Julie was born November 24th 1943 in Chatham, NB and grew up in Bay du Vin, NB, daughter of Alexander MacDonald and Annie (Fitzpatrick) MacDonald.

Julie graduated from NB Teachers’ College in 1961, and after a few years teaching in Chatham and Fredericton, left with her friend Paulette to teach in Toronto. Julie taught for many years with Toronto District Catholic School Board. She was proud to have completed her BA at the University of Toronto, and she had also completed many special teaching certifications. After retirement, Julie did some private tutoring and volunteered with the “Society of Sharing” and “Inn From The Cold”. She was an avid reader and enjoyed nature, travel, and visiting family and friends.

Julie was much loved and will be forever missed by brother Donald MacDonald, Chatham NB; sisters Marian Sampson (Jerry), Wolfville, NS and Ora Watson (Andy), Dalhousie Junction, NB; nephews Jay Watson (Jesslyn Fowlie), Dartmouth, NS and Paul Watson, Dalhousie Junction; great niece 7 year old Meena Watson, Dartmouth. Also fondly remembering Julie will be best friends Paulette and Ian Robertson, Ingersoll, ON, and close cousins Helen Chamberlain (Jack), Dartmouth NS, daughters Jennifer Chamberlain (Duff), Toronto and Heidi Chamberlain, Montreal and David Mac Donald (Mary Ann), Truro, NS, son Duncan MacDonald, Waterhen, SK.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no Visitation. Funeral Mass at Holy Rosary Church (354 St Clair Ave W, Toronto, ON. M5P 1N4) on January 15, 2019 at 10:00 am. Committal to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery (305 Erskine Ave, Toronto, ON M4P 1Z7). A gathering in memory of Julie will be held for family and friends in Bay du Vin in the summer. Family flowers only; if wished, please donate to a favourite charity in memory of Julie.
