LUCY RAHMER

LUCY RAHMER

RAHMER, LUCY (nee BORBAS) November 17, 1917 – December 30, 2018 Passed away peacefully at home with her family around her.

Lucy was predeceased by her husbands Imre Benes, Steven Rahmer and her longtime friend and companion Ferdinand (Nandi) Kantor. She was also predeceased by her sister Lydia Szabados and her sister-in-law Barbara Borbas. Lucy is survived by her brother Andrew L. Borbas and niece and nephews Andrew Borbas, Libby Borbas, Tom Tabor (Regina) and Leslie Tabor (Karen).

Lucy was born in Budapest, Hungary and had a wonderful life in the city and in the family summer house along the Danube in Tahi. The war changed everything and for a short, but difficult time, the family was scattered across Europe, finally coming back together in Casablanca, Morocco. A few years later, Toronto would become her home.

Lucy, always an avid photographer, was able to turn one of her many passions into her career, being recognized for her work photographing interiors from coast to coast. Her other passions for art, music and travel were an important part of her entire life, each giving her so much joy. Lucy brought so much happiness into the lives of others. Her wit and charm, her laugh and smile, gave joy to so many.

We are thankful that Lucy was happy and able to stay in her own home. That would not have been possible without the love and support of her caregivers Margo, Cynthia and Rowena and the affectionate help from Rose, Helen, Patsy, Samira, Mekdes and Libertine. The family would also like to thank Dr. Sinclair-Mills and Dr. Dolganova from House Calls for their care and compassion.

A celebration of Lucy’s life will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at The Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre with interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to House Calls or Sprint Senior Services would be greatly appreciated.
