MARILYN CRONYN

MARILYN CRONYN

CRONYN, MARILYN Marilyn died on Saturday, October 20, 2018 of complications from Parkinson’s. She bore and fought this illness with incredible bravery for twenty years. She refused to be defeated or defined by her illness and was always cheerful and positive.

Marilyn was strong yet beautifully gentle. She grew up in London, Ontario, and was educated at Havergal College, Neutchatel, Western and University of Toronto. Her career straddled social services, advertising, marketing and food nutrition. She was entrepreneurial and successfully developed her own line of hand painted children’s furniture.

She loved to travel. And yet at the cottage on Georgian Bay, she found the home where she was completely happy. She spent as much time as she could in the garden, on the beach, kayaking, swimming and enjoying the sunsets with absolute calm contentment. The cottage was her joy, as were her children, Megan and Hamish, her husband Jake, her family and her very close group of friends.

For such an unassuming woman, Marilyn touched the lives of everyone she met. She gave love in countless ways. Our hearts are broken, but she would wish for us to remember her strength and kindness and keep each other close.

There will be a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 31st, at the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club, 44 Price Street, Toronto. Because Marilyn was such a bright light in our lives, colourful clothes would be appreciated.

For anyone who wishes to make a contribution in her honour, a donation to Parkinson’s research would be welcome.
