McGLYNN, Arthur Lawrence Passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington at the age of 76.
Beloved husband of Fran (nee Beaton). Cherished father of Shauna Moodie (Terry) and Warren McGlynn (Shannon). Proud grandfather of Sara, Ryan, Sean, and Kevin. Predeceased by parents Eva (nee Willie) and Lorne McGlynn, brothers Lloyd (Jean), James (Mary), Ernest (Mary), and Daniel (Linda). Art will be dearly missed by his siblings Bruce (Juanita), David (Joan), Doris Rettinger (Frank), and Ruth Ann Gooding (Bob), as well as many extended family members and friends.
Art started his professional career with the Toronto Police Service, followed by four years with the Ontario Provincial Police. In 1968, he joined the Burlington Fire Department as a Firefighter. During the course of his 28-year tenure, he spent much of his career as the Chief Fire Prevention Officer.
In keeping with Art’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 3:00 – 5:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 8 at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church (196 Kenwood Ave, Burlington) at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow in the church hall. Private interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at a later date.
