POLLICE, Mary Peacefully on October 17th, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener in her 94th year, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

She is survived by and will be missed by her sister-in-law Dorothy Pollice and her nieces and nephews Barbara (Robert) Willman, Byron (Sharon) Martin, Paul (Paula) Martin, Carol (Frank) Tristani, Nick (Linda) Pollice, Mary Lou Falla, Patricia Brown (Arnold), Marianne Corradetti (Terry), John (Lori) Pollice, Lisa Stecko (Michael), Elizabeth Pasternak (Peter), Mary Pasternak, Cathy Pasternak (Kelly). Predeceased by her beloved niece and nephew Beverly (Ken) Macdonald and Michael (Sandra) Pollice.

Mary was an energetic, entrepreneurial woman who built a successful business with School Publications, then joined the Canadian publishing firm of Fitzhenry Whiteside in their education division, enjoying a long and successful career. Her love of books was something she shared with her nieces and nephews, and it was always a treat to be invited into Mary’s home office and be showered with an armload of wonderful books to take home. She was a great storyteller!

A woman of faith, Mary was always there for her family, taking care of her parents, her siblings and being an active and caring aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Her life revolved around the arts, particularly the Symphony and the Opera in Hamilton and Toronto; she served on the board of Chamber Music Hamilton. Her love of music also inspired a love of travel and she embarked on many trips to experience opera in major centres around the world. Her sense of adventure took her on trips to Europe, China, the Middle East and on a cruise with her niece Beverly from Los Angeles to Australia. She was a dedicated walker and also an avid tennis player having learned to play as a teenager with her brother, Dominic.

Special thanks to the staff at the Village of Winston Park in Kitchener for all their care and compassion.

Visitation will take place at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL , 43 Barton St. E., in Hamilton (near James St.) on Sunday, October 28th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Canadian Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, 38 Emerson St., in Hamilton.

In kindness, donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society or Canadian Martyrs Roman Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family.
