POMFRET, Norman

POMFRET, Norman Born April 30, 1937 in Atherton, Lancashire, England, lived in Valleyfield, Quebec 1948 to 1952, died in Hamilton January 4, 2019.

He was predeceased by father Norman Hector, Mother Ruth (Crook), first wife Marie Helen Fischer, brother Colin, sister-in-law Ann, brother-in-law John Lidgey. He is survived by wife Mary (Lidgey), son Brian (Marlene) and two cherished grandchildren, Melissa and Thomas, sister-in-law Sue Lidgey, and nieces and nephews.

Lifelong learner, whose interests included history and nature, Steel worker for 47+ years at Burlington Steel, Union Drawn and STELCO. He was an Elder at New Westminster Presbyterian Church and a member of the South Gate Presbyterian Church for 45 years. He was a member of organizations reflecting his interests, including Hamilton Naturalists Club, Lower Grand River Land Trust (Ruthven), Toronto Entomologists Association, Friends of Auchmar, Hamilton Mountain Heritage Society, supporter of Crieff Hills Retreat and Conference Centre. Donation to one of these organizations appreciated.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the South Gate Presbyterian Church, 120 Clarendon in Hamilton on Thursday, January 17th at 1:30 p.m.
