GAUTHIER, Deanna Eileen

(nee Pearce) —

June 6, 1940 – July 18, 2016

Slipped away peacefully at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Deanna was predeceased by her parents Redvers (Reg) and Velma Pearce and her husband of 25 years Edward Allen (Ted) Robinson. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her first husband Edmond (Ed) Gauthier, her brother John (Jack) Pearce, her daughter Kellie Ross (Dave), granddaughter Tara Nassif (Pierre), grandsons Braden and Taylor Deatcher and great-grandson Mason Nassif (the light of her last days).

Deanna began her illustrious career with Conklin Shows where ‘carny’ blood got in her veins. She left Toronto to join the Calgary Stampede in 1975 where she loved the west so much that her grandchildren bestowed on her the moniker ‘Calgary’. After several years with the Stampede, Deanna moved on to join Hockey Canada, The Saddledome Foundation and was invited to join OCO ’88 (the organization for the 1988 Winter Olympics), wrapping up her career with CFCN TV Calgary. Her passion for ‘all things western’ kept her in Calgary for 18 years (in her words, the best years of her life).

Deanna’s last days were spent at Ian Anderson House in Oakville where the care and compassion of the doctors, nurses, PSWs and volunteers went above and beyond to ensure her comfort and the needs of her family in her final days. As well, the PSW staff at 271 Kerr St. in Oakville are to be commended for their care and concern.

Cremation is private with a Celebration of Life to follow at a later date. The family has requested that in memory of Deanna, donations to the Ian Anderson House Hospice (ianandersonhouse.com) would be greatly appreciated.
