CAFFERKY, John Peacefully at Michael Garron Hospital on Sunday, August 6, 2017, Feast of the Transfiguration. John, beloved husband of Bridjette. Dear brother of Patrick, Tony and Hugh. Lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Born and educated at Old Belvedere and Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland. He enjoyed a very successful professional career in the mineral exploration and mining industry both in Ireland and Canada. Responsible several times for finding new ore reserves for the Agnico – Eagle Gold Mine in Quebec. Mid life John pursued a love of teaching, research and writing through becoming a professional educator with the Toronto Catholic District School Board, finishing at St. John Paul II High School, where he was greatly loved and respected by his colleagues and students. These feelings were mutually shared as evidenced by the countless hours John gave to helping others, as well as through the works of justice in support of the poor with the very successful “Pennies for Heaven” charity initiative which Kathleen McGill and he started at the school. It further extended to his representative work with the Teacher’s Union. John authored three highly regarded books including the highly acclaimed “Evolution’s Hand” and “Lord Milner’s Second War” on the origins of the First World War and the New World Order. Visitation at PAUL O’CONNOR FUNERAL HOME, 1939 Lawrence Ave. E. (between Pharmacy and Warden), on Wednesday, August 9th from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid’s Church, 300 Wolverleigh Blvd. (Glebemount, north of Danforth, west of Woodbine).
