PAUL SALVATORE ABATE Retired Metropolitan Toronto Police Officer July 13, 1943 – February 2, 2017 It is with profound sadness that the family announces that Paul passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Mackenzie Health Hospital in his 74th year. Beloved husband of Linda Abate and loving father of Glen Abate, Deborah (Sam Wakileh), Adam Green and Casey (Jeff Ranich). Cherished grandfather of Valerie (Clay More), Bryan Wood, Dusty Abate and Justin and Jacob Miller. Adored Poppa of Jack and Claire Ranich. Great- grandfather of Finley and Cooper More. Paul will be lovingly remembered by his sister Maryann Lewis (Bob) and his brother Philip (Evelyn), as well as his in-laws: Larry and Brenda Fountain, Joanne and Frank Dunn and David and Heather Fountain. Sadly missed by his nieces and nephews: Mark and Peter Abate, Jeannine Campbell, Sharlene Sprogis, Philena Linklater, Rachelle Abate, Michelle Donnelly, Stephanie Lewis, Peter and Scott Fountain, Debbie Huska, Andrew and Alan Dunn, Mandy Couper and Daniel Fountain. Paul was predeceased by his parents Paul and Margaret Abate and his brother Peter. The family would like to thank his many caregivers, especially Allison Weir Gouveia, Andrew Fox, Margaret Scott, Dr. Nathoo, Dr. Srivamadevan, Dr. Bryon, the Cardiac Team at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Pickering DMC and the ICU and Dialysis Unit at Mackenzie Health Hospital. A Remembrance of Paul will be taking place at the Mill Run Golf Club, 269 Durham Regional Rd. 8, Uxbridge (905-852-6212), on Thursday, March 9, 2017 beginning at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army Durham or the SickKids Hospital Foundation.
