Richard Adolph DUBOIS
DUBOIS, Richard Adolph On July 9, 1920, Dick Dubois entered into this world and 96 years later on the same date, he passed away peacefully and joined Miriam (Shea), the love of his life, in heaven. Dick was a loving husband, father, family patriarch, inspirational role model for many, and gentleman to all. He was always a thoughtful, kind, supportive and generous person, who listened more than he spoke. He was a strong, enthusiastic, informed Catholic who discreetly supported many local and international charities in many ways. In 1960, Dick was instrumental in the formation of Mount St. Joseph, an institute for emotionally disturbed boys. Dick was appointed a Knight of Malta in recognition of his dedication to “nurturing, witnessing, and protecting the faith and serving the poor and the sick”. As well, he was a member of the Serra Club, an organization for the promotion of vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life. Dick was a very successful Hamilton business entrepreneur, who, in a fifty year automotive career was always recognized as being fair and compassionate to employees and customers alike. He was President of City Chevrolet from 1955 to 1963 and Hamilton Motor Products from 1963 to 1990. He was respected by his peers as a man of unquestioned integrity and commitment to his industry. Dick had many diverse interests…skiing throughout North America and Europe, flying his amphibious Cessna to and from his beloved cottage and most memorably to Inuvik where he won an award for best plane in the group. In his retirement years, Dick spent many happy months every year, surrounded by family, at his favourite place in the world, his cottage in Port Carling. Loving father of Michael (Yvonne), the late Marie (Arnold Horn), the late Barbara Ann, Jan (Brian McGarry), Bernadette (Ron Davidson), Terri (Doug Drake) and Elin (Bob Maher). Dear Grandfather of twenty grandchildren and thirty-one great- grandchildren. Brother of the late Jerry Dubois (Connie), Raymond Dubois (the late Louise), the late Ken Dubois (Lorna), the late Lorne Dubois (Beverly), Mary Ann (Jack Graham), Joan (the late Mal Pancoast), the late Kathy (Walter Stayshyn), and Patricia (John Harris). Brother-in-law of the late John Shea (Joyce) and the late Robin and Lola Shea. Predeceased by his daughter-in-law Judy Dubois.
