MYRTLE JANET (MARTY) SEMENICK

August 22, 1927 – July 31, 2016
With deepest sorrow the family announces the passing of Myrtle (Marty) on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at the age of 88. Beloved wife and best friend of the late Edward, and cherished mother of Cynthia (Cindy). Marty will be forever loved and missed by her daughter. She leaves to mourn her loving sister Helen, nephew Stephen and niece Karen Palka. Marty was predeceased by her parents Stephen and Olga Shewchuk and brother-in-law Maurice Palka. Marty was born and raised in Winnipeg. As a young girl she played the violin and was part of a Winnipeg Orchestra. She was a great cook, and was known for her awesome apple pies. She was an avid reader, stamp collector and a very creative quilter. For many years Marty enjoyed travelling to her condo in Florida. She will always be remembered for her loving nature, her beautiful smile and green eyes. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane Subway, on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 1:30 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 3 p.m. in the Chapel. Private Burial to follow. Special thanks to the St. Joseph’s Health Centre doctors, nurses and staff who helped and supported Marty for many years.
