ORLICKI, Emilia Passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, at St. Joseph’s Villa on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, shortly after celebrating her 95th birthday.
Predeceased by her husband, Jozef Orlicki. Devoted and loving mother of Barbara (Alex) Turingia. Caring and generous Nana of Kelly (Fredy) and Christy (Doug). Kind and cuddly great-grandmother to Hudson. Pre- deceased by her sister Stasia Byrdziak. Emilia will be greatly missed by surviving family and friends in Poland, Canada, and Uruguay especially by her sister-in-law Izabella Orlicki, niece Margaret (Steve) Szarka, nephew Richard Mizera, and cousin Stan Trojak.
Emilia was born in Czaniec, Poland where she grew up, working the farm before immigrating to Canada with her family in 1960. She spent her life working hard, making sacrifices to provide for her family. Her life’s joy was helping and supporting those dear to her heart.
Through the years Emilia could be found cooking and baking up a storm in her kitchen. She was an avid gardener who took great pride in her home and garden. She was a huge animal lover, rescuing many strays along the way, as well as always making sure the wildlife around her had food and shelter. She always made family a priority, living close and being actively involved in the daily lives of her daughter and grandchildren.
Emilia grew her family and came to love the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas where she resided over the last few years.
Family will receive friends at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave. E., on Monday, January 14th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Panychida at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Polish Church, 8 Saint Ann St., on Tuesday, January 15th at 9 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Those who so desire may make memorial donations in the memory of Emilia to St. Joseph’s Villa Dundas, the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA, or McMaster Children’s Hospital.
