LABUDA, Andy

LABUDA, Andy It is with sadness that the family of Andy Labuda announces his passing on Sunday, March 17th at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington.

He was predeceased by: wife Sharron Stasuik (Fearn), parents Joseph and Maria Labuda, siblings Joseph, John, Helen and granddaughter Becky. He will be deeply missed by his daughters Nancy Labuda, Cheryl Merigold (Archie) and grandchildren Jonathan (Brittany), Robert, Carissa Ready (Aaron), Teressa Joubert (Benoit), also great-grandchildren Nick, Ashley, Joshua, Zachary, David and Mason. He will be often thought of by sister Mary and brother-in-law Matt Farrell, niece Linda (Ian), nephew Douglas (Brandy), Shirley Wilson Harrington, extended family, dear friends and good neighbours.

Andy, a retired Auto Mechanics teacher from General Brock High School, was a relentless, hopeful, life-long Toronto Maple Leafs fan, and a long-term member of the Royal Canadian Legion (1973). Branch 60 in Burlington is where he will be most remembered by his many comrades and buddies as the “Don”- a permanent fixture who with his dry humour and competitive spirit participated in many rousing dart championships, pool, card games and hearty debates.

We would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to Alex Douglas for his long and faithful friendship and thank the many health professionals who cared for our Dad during these last weeks.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 60 in Burlington on Saturday, March 30th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Guests are encouraged to wear Toronto Maple Leaf shirts!)

In lieu of flowers, donations to this Legion’s Building Fund would be a wonderful and worthy remembrance.
