WILLIAM (BILL) HERMAN YORKE of Toronto, Ontario died Monday, June 12, 2017 in his sixty-ninth year at Baycrest Palliative Care Unit shortly after his cancer diagnosis. Born January 22, 1948 in Midland, Ontario, Bill lived in Toronto and Port Credit for most of his life. Bill was well-known throughout for his generosity, loyalty and fun-loving nature. Bill leaves his beloved wife Susan Yorke (née DeKort), his dear sister Kathy (Sandy), favourite brother Jim (Sharon) and loving sister Linda (Pip). Bill was a proud father to Miranda (Jeremy) and Blair (Kurumi) and grandfather to Arden, Jude and Miles. Bill is also survived by his step daughter Merriel (Tim) and her family. He was predeceased by his father, Gilbert, his mother Marjorie; and by his dog, Tommy. Bill will be missed by his extended family, longtime friends, and former colleagues at A&P, Dominion, I.G.A. and Valu-mart stores and the community near Lawrence Avenue and Underhill Drive. Visitations will take place at Jerrett Funeral Home (1141 St. Clair Street West) in Toronto on Sunday June 18 from 1-2 p.m. followed by a memorial service celebrating Bill’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Melanoma Network of Canada.
