BARTELS, John Peacefully at home and surrounded by family on Thursday, June 22, 2017, the Lord took unto Himself John Bartels at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Tina Bartels (nee Ravensbergen) for 57 years. He was a loving father to Wilma Haining (Kevin), Sophia Haining (Gary), Brian Bartels (Cheryl), Henrietta Petter (Johan), the late Raymond Bartels, Peter Bartels, and Tracy Bartels. Cherished grandpa of grandchildren Melissa, Tyler, Kaitlyn, and Michael Haining; Kristina, and Jon Haining (Natasha); Wayne, and Deanna Bartels; Marisa, Rachelle, Tyneesha, Ryan, Bradley, and Nathaniel Petter; and great-grandchildren Myla, Ella, Lia and Bradley. Dear brother of Diny VanderHout (Tony). Predeceased by six brothers. John will also be missed by his extended family. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Monday, June 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Smithville Canadian Reformed Church, 330 Station Street, Smithville on Tuesday, June 27 at 11 a.m. with interment at Union Cemetery, Smithville.
