Agnes Hubertina Maria (Cryns) Crins

Passed away peacefully on Monday, July 19th, at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late John Crins (1994). Loving mother of Bill and Elisabeth (Bill Soteroff). Proud grandmother of Sarah and Matthew (Krystal) and great-grandmother of Elle. Survived by her sisters, Mia and Bertha and brother Joe, in Holland. After surviving The Second World War in Holland, Agnes and John made the difficult decision to move to Canada in 1954, to establish a new life.

She and John worked tirelessly their entire lives to bring about greater opportunities for their family and their communities. They traveled extensively in their later years and enjoyed seeing the world together. Agnes was a lifelong member of St. Gabriel’s CWL. She was also an active Red Cross volunteer, delivering meals through Meals on Wheels for over 25 years. Later in life, Agnes married Max Spiak (2015). Agnes loved her family greatly, was a devoted and caring grandmother and great-grandmother, a brilliant seamstress and avid reader who enjoyed a long walk, a cup of tea with friends and a spirited card game.

For the past five years Agnes lived at Lasalle Park Retirement home and enjoyed her time and the friends she met there immensely. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Lasalle Park for always providing such a caring, loving atmosphere. Sincere thanks also to the nurses and doctors of the palliative care unit at Joseph Brant Hospital for providing compassion and comfort in her final days.
