Peter Vincent EMERSON

Peter Vincent EMERSON

EMERSON, Peter Vincent August 21, 1935 – August 11, 2018 It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Vincent Emerson announce that on Saturday, August 11, 2018 Peter left this world peacefully with his family at his side.

He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife and soulmate of 60 years, Deanna (nee Colangelo) and his children, Toni, Tracy, Karen and Peter. Peter will also be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren, Alex, Geri Deanne, Cameron, Reid, Isabella, Blaise, Sofie Louise and Marshall, his two great-grandchildren and in-laws Anthony and Mary Kathryn. Born in Picton, Ontario, Peter moved with his father to Toronto in his youth. While still establishing his career in the early 1950’s Peter met and married the love of his life Deanna and quickly started a family while still putting himself through a business degree at the University of Toronto. He would go on to a brilliant career in marketing, sales and advertising, taking on leadership roles and establishing many firsts in that field including the creation and implementation of the original Blue Jays Radio Network. Peter had a passion for travel, golf and painting.

Primarily though, Peter was a family man with a knack for bringing family and friends together. He will be remembered fondly for his love of food and fun times with family and friends at his home or up at the lake. His cottage became his favourite spot for spoiling the grandkids, taking them out in the boat for ice cream with musical accompaniment by Roy Orbison heard for miles. Peter will also be remembered for his tireless community work fueled by his kind and compassionate spirit. He was an avid volunteer serving his community through various good works. He will be sadly missed by the Knights of Columbus, Council 1388, where he proudly served for many years including a term as Grand Knight. He was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and for many years sponsored foster children around the world with the Chalice organization.

Throughout his life he had a great love of dogs and in later years was rarely seen without his loyal King Charles Spaniel Winston riding shotgun or nestled on his lap. Above all else, he considered his greatest accomplishment his marriage to his ‘Italian Princess’ Deanna. He cherished every moment of their life together and to his last days put her first.
