CHANDLER, Hazel June (Aisthorpe) Passed away peacefully at the age of 93 in her home in Vineland on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. Hazel was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Emma, her husband Leonard, and her brother John. Hazel is survived by her daughter Gail Whitall (Fred), and her sons, Michael (Jadz), Rick (Betty Ann) and Joel (Brenda). Among her cherished family are her grandchildren Carolyn, Elisa, Jonathan, Cheri, Kristi, Corey, Michelle, David and 11 great-grandchildren. Hazel retired in 1984 and began to involve herself in Community work in the Peterborough/ Lakefield area Community Care and the Royal Canadian Legion. Hazel received a “Senior Achievement Award” from the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario in recognition of her community contribution. In 1986 Hazel moved to Heritage Village in Vineland and continued her volunteer work with the “Grandmothers to Grandmothers” campaign and supported Plan Canada, with help from her great grandchildren. She participated in an active life style in Heritage Village until her passing. She will be missed by her family, neighbours and friends. A Memorial service is planned for September 24th at 2 p.m. at the Vineland United Church in Vineland, followed by a Legion Service in Peterborough/ Lakefield at a later date.
