ELIZABETH (BETTY) M. BISS (nee McCONVEY) Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, July 24, 2016 in her 93rd year. Betty beloved wife of Ted for over 70 wonderful years. Cherished Mom of Stephen (Karen), Wendy (Ron), Carol, James (Sheila) and Cathy. Loving Nana to Lisa, Jennifer, Renee, Geoff, Michele, Kelsey, Danielle, Olivia and Connor. Great-Nana to Audrey, Scarlett, and Felix. Sister to Mary, Patricia, Andy, Virginia and Teddy. Betty graduated as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto and was President of the St. Joseph’s Nurses’ Alumni for many years. Betty was a trailblazer when she became the first female Trustee in the Dufferin-Peel Roman Catholic District School Board where she served tirelessly for 14 years. She was an active volunteer in many community organizations such as St. Mary’s Catholic Women’s League in Port Credit and Peel Family Services. Betty was a loving, compassionate mother who was supportive and generous. She loved discussing world events and travelled extensively around the globe with her family. Her presence will be missed dearly. Mrs. Biss is resting at the funeral home of Skinner & Middlebrook Ltd., 128 Lakeshore Rd. E. (1 block west of Hurontario St.), Mississauga, on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass in St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 11 Peter St., Mississauga, on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery to follow.
