ElizabethMargaret BEATON

BEATON, Elizabeth Margaret Serenely and with deep peace, Elizabeth passed into Heaven, surrounded by the love of her family near and far. Dearly beloved by her precious Gordon and her 11 children who were her delight: Carolyn, Ruth (Mike) and Maureen (Stan) who were born to ‘Beth’ and dear late husband Rev Homer McAvoy; and then Dwayne (Sharon), Shawn, Janine (Jim), Bruce (Marilyn), Sarah, Tanya, Kristin (Don) and Ian who were brought into her life by Gordon when they married in 1976. It was her delight to raise her 11 children and to love the daughters-in-law and sons-in-law and 20 grandchildren (and 2 great-grandchildren) they blessed her with: Laura and Andrew; Emily and Austin; James, Melissa and Amanda; Danielle and Savannah; Jacquelyn, Victoria and Charlotte; Simon, Dean and Howie; Adam, Alexandra, Noah, Elijah and Gabriel. For this blessing, Mom would say “thank you, again and again!” A precious sister to Maureen, Lyla and John, who she loved and admired. Loved and treasured by her extended family and many friends, young and old. She revelled in her work as an Accounting Technician (after returning to school at age 40 to achieve the ‘Diploma of Business Admin in Accounting’ – earning a scholarship with top honours) – working at Thorne Riddell in the Soo and then Richmond Hill -KPMG, PKFHill and as Accountant at North Toronto Christian School – “a lovely way to end my accounting career”. It was her pleasure to support each of her husbands in their work as they ministered to many Presbyterian churches, sharing her own gifts in each congregation throughout her life – and with Evangel Hall Mission and its golf tournament. She loved to worship, to support those ‘proclaiming’ good news, and she had the gifts of prayer and wisdom. Gifted as an artist and musician (singing and cello, which she began at 65!), organizer extraordinaire, a player of games (who liked to win), expert baker and hostess, seamstress/knitter and teller of stories. She always did her very best. There is only one Elizabeth and we have all been blessed by her in various and numerous ways. Elizabeth was predeceased by Homer and her parents James and Euphemia Doherty (Robertson). She has ‘lived’ all her days – even to the last, fighting bravely to be with us and yet assuring us of the Christian faith she had which brought her such peace at the end. According to Elizabeth’s wishes her body has been donated to The University of Toronto’s medical research. To honour Elizabeth, and in lieu of flowers, please share a gift with: Evangel Hall Mission; Trinity York Mills Presbyterian; or St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Markham. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Friday, July 28, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge St., at Goulding, south of Steeles). Memorial Service on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Trinity York Mills Presbyterian Church (2737 Bayview Ave., Toronto, ON.) Condolences may be left at www.rskane.ca.
