Frank FILIPAS

Frank FILIPAS

September 8, 1934 – July 6, 2021

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the loss of Frank Filipas on July 6, 2021, at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington. With his loving wife unwaveringly by his side each day, his mind remained sharp but his body failed him, as he peacefully passed away after surgery complications surrounded by family. Frank was a devoted husband, beloved father and cherished grandfather. His loyalty, generosity, and stubbornness unmatched by any other. He will be missed immensely by his wife of 50 years, Zdenka (nee Novosad); his children: Mario Filipas (Clarissa) and Diana Taylor (Ritchie); his grandchildren: Anya and Katya, Benjamin and William; and his extended family & friends throughout Canada and Croatia. A master of his craft with a doctorate in woodworking, he was a loyal employee of Orlando in Mississauga for almost 30 years.

He loved soccer and chess, telling his stories, shopping, and planning his next holiday. He always held a special place in his heart for his hometown of Cres, Croatia, where he traveled to every year and longed to visit just one last time. He taught us what hard work, a loving husband, and a great Dad & Nono looks like. Words cannot fully convey the impact he had on his family, and although his body is gone, he will forever be with us. We will remember you with every cappuccino and shot of rakija.
